Open House session at IIT Bhilai

IIT Bhilai conducted an Open House at its transit campus at Sejbahar on 21st June 2019. The interactive open house session was a beneficial step to provide guidance in understanding the admission procedure, infrastructure, curriculum and placement opportunities at the institute. IIT Bhilai is one of the Reporting Centre (RC) for admission to IITs through JoSAA 2019. Candidates allotted seats in any of the IITs can do their reporting, document verification and seat acceptance at IIT Bhilai during the counselling as per the schedule announced by JoSAA (website: http://josaa.nic.in).

More than 50 students who qualified JEE (Advanced) 2019 along with their parents from the region in and around Chhattisgarh actively participated in the event.

The session started with a welcome note by Mr Nihar Ranjan, Assistant Registrar of Academic and Students’ Affairs. Dr Anshul Faye, Faculty -in- Charge, Students Affairs welcomed the students and parents to IIT Bhilai and congratulated the JEE (Adv.) qualified students for their commendable achievement. He further gave an in-depth overview of various facilities available to students inside the campus and operation of various clubs for students’ extracurricular activities. Then, Dr Jose, Faculty-in-Charge of Academic affairs gave a brief overview on various academic programs offered by the Institute. He further explained about the fractal academic system followed by the institute and briefly enlightened on the procedure and possibilities of discipline change, upgradation of program, etc. The talk was followed by a presentation by Dr Soumya Gangopadhyaya, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, about the overall infrastructure and administration of the institute. Towards the end, Dr Dhiman Saha, Faculty-in-Charge of Outreach briefly presented various training and placement prospects available for the students of IIT Bhilai.

Later the interactive Q & A session resolved numerous pertinent questions regarding choice of branch, Institute, suitable career choices, dual specialization, sub specialization, difference between regular and integrated/dual degree programs, choice and seat allotment in Joint Seat Allocation Authority. Faculty members from all the departments, Deputy Registrar (F&A) and President of students’ Council of IIT Bhilai cleared many doubts of the budding aspirants.
