PRAYATNA 2.0 CLOSING CEREMONY

With onset of winter, IIT Bhilai becomes an Arena for intra IIT sports. Prayatna 2.0 is 3-month long league organised by Sports Council, IIT Bhilai in December every year. The event marked a close on 29th April 2019 with felicitation ceremony of the young sportsmen.

Mr. Rustam Sarang (Inspector, C.G. Police Dept.) was the Chief Guest of the event. Mr. Rustam, an Indian Weightlifter who represented India in CWG 2014 Glasgow and has various accolades to his credit was the Chief Guest of Prayatna 2.0 Closing Ceremony. Presently Mr. Rustam is serving as Inspector, C.G. Police. The event was also graced by Prof. Rajat Moona (Director, IIT Bhilai), Dr. Suchetan Pal (Faculty I/c Sports and Yoga), Dr. Veena Bansal and Dr. Anshul Faye with their presence.

In his inspiring address Mr. Rustam Sarang shared his life experience and struggles which laid foundations for his success. Mr. Sarang reinstated that sports not only trains young minds to face physical challenges but also gears them to be mentally strong as well.

Prof. Rajat Moona (Director IIT Bhilai) in his address said that sports meets are a great opportunity for students to unite, rejoice, introduce and represent themselves. Prayatna, the Inter IIT Sports Meet at IIT Bhilai gives students a chance to not only perform but outperform and re-energize themselves.

The teams Arkham, Atlantis, Metropolis, Valhalla, Xandar and Wakanda participated in Praytna 2.0. Team Xandar were the champions of the tournament and bagged the championship trophy, followed by team Arkham and Wakanda as the first and second runners up. The students displayed their sportsmanship skills in Volleyball, Chess, Badminton, Table Tennis, Basketball, Cricket, Athletics and Football. Saranjit Sarkar won the award for the Player of the Tournament. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates.

The three month long sports endeavour was reflection of perseverance, team spirit and determination of young IITians to achieve high levels of performance.
