The environment that we live in is very important not only for our health but for our survival. Hence, there is a huge need for us to conserve it. Every year, on 5th June, World Environment Day is celebrated to encourage worldwide awareness and necessary action to protect the environment.

At IIT Bhilai, it has been our constant endeavour to preserve the environment. Throughout the year, the institute has actively conducted tree plantation campaigns, plogging (plastic collection while jogging), cyclothons, and nature walks at the transit campus. Students, faculty, and staff have come together to make the campus green while also planting medicinal saplings.

The nature club members of IIT Bhilai have taken great pleasure in witnessing fascinating avian behaviour during their nature walks on campus. Cleaning campaigns have been conducted, while single-use plastic has been wholly banned within the grounds of the institute where efficient waste disposal methods are employed. Besides spreading everyday awareness, one of our faculty members, Dr. Pravesh Chandra Shukla, is also conducting cutting-edge technological projects to control and reduce vehicular pollution.

On this day, 5th June 2020, IIT Bhilai pledges to earnestly take up the responsibility of giving our coming generations a healthier and happier environment to have a beautiful life.
