IIT Bhilai students got selected in Youth Delegation Program to China, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. As youth delegates, Govind Kumar Arora and Smarana Shrikant Pankanti, third year students from IIT Bhilai were chosen along with 176 students from other institutes.
The program emphasized strengthening people-to-people exchanges between the two countries while covering all aspects of India-China bilateral relations. Through, the annual youth exchange program, the Governments of India and China intend to provide opportunities to their youth to mutually understand each other better. The whole program was also collaboratively managed by Beijing Volunteer Service Federation, which works the same as the National Service Scheme (NSS) in India.
IITians Govind and Smarana visited cities like Beijing, Dunhuang and Lanzhou in China under the hosting of All China Youth Federation from 02nd to 09th July, 2019. During the youth's stay in China, the delegates got an opportunity to experience various facets of China's economy, society and culture through company visits, tours and lectures. In Beijing and Lanzhouart the students visited technical universities like College of Gansu University of Chinese Medicine, Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, etc.
Youth Delegation Program is an avenue by which students gained first-hand knowledge about China with the help of close interaction with experts and practitioners from various fields, including industry, education, sports, science and technology, urban planning, agriculture and health. IIT Bhilai in collaboration Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports plans to foster many more such activities in future to provide exposure to budding talents.
